Week commencing 2 August 2010
Our contractors J N Bentley, have been removing silt from the Lake for nearly
four weeks now and are making good progress, as you can see from the aerial photo.
Unfortunately the weather has taken a turn for the worst over the past weeks,
which has hampered silt removal as the silt becommes heavier and difficult to
manage. It it estimated that J N Bentley will be removing 60,000 tonnes of silt
from the Lake bed- no mean feat!

Week commencing 16 August 2010
The majority of silt from the Lake has now been removed, and has been put in
a farmers field near St.Mary’s Church. Our contractors estimate that they have
moved 60,000 tonnes!
We are hoping that recharging of the Lake will begin by the end of the week.
It won’t be immediate and to fill up to it’s previous level is likely to take
a few weeks.
There is still some work to do to the dam therefore the usual footbridge into
the Seven Bridges Valley will remain closed for a while longer.
We’re hoping to be able to remove a lot of the signage and fencing in the deer
park soon. The project has been a great success so far and we’re really pleased
that the silt removal has gone well.
