Mr Aislabie’s Patriotic Challenge – and the Winners are…
During the first of the Treasured Islands events on 22 and 23 July, numerous
budding archaeologists took “Mr Aislabie’s Patriotic Challenge”. They had to spy
out the positions of the French port and the British Gun battery, marked on historic
maps of the Quebec, using the surviving clues in the landscape.
The winners were Abbie and Hannah Rai, who will be invited to return to Fountains
Abbey and Studley Royal for a VIP behind-the-scene visit, and lunch as Mr Aislabie’s
guests.
Other highly commended archaeologists/spies were:
- Paul Knapman
- Lee Maxwell
- Bel and Roddy N
- Jane Nicholson
- Lily Norris Williams
- Jackson Sant
- Mike Smith
Congratulations to everyone who entered!
